Adult Acne: Blasting Zits Into Oblivion

My name is Jamie Turner and when I turned 22, I started to form a horrible case of acne. I used every cleanser and lotion I could find and I even asked my physician for a topical steroid cream to clear up the zits on my face. After six months of treatment, my physician completed a blood test that concluded that a hormone imbalance was causing my acne. I started on therapy to control the amount of estrogen my body produced. The therapy along with a good diet and exercise regimen helped to clear up my acne. I am sharing my story, because acne is not just a condition that affects teenagers. It can affect adults at any age, and it can cause a great deal of embarrassment. Don't let your acne go untreated. Read my blog instead and learn about both natural and medical treatments that can help you.

Tips For Comfortable, Confident Fertility Injections

Health & Medical Blog

If you are a female struggling with your fertility, one treatment a doctor is likely to recommend is fertility injections. These are a series of shots that you give yourself, generally over a period of several weeks, in order to stimulate ovulation. The process of giving yourself fertility shots can be a little challenging, but the following tips will help make the process more comfortable.

Ice the injection site first.

Take a small ice cube, and rub it over the area where you will be injecting the fertility medications. Hold it there for a few seconds until you can feel your skin going numb. Then, quickly give the injection before this numbness has time to wear off. This icing process should make it so that you barely feel the needle going in. As you grow more confident injecting yourself, you may find that you no longer need to do this. However, icing the site is really helpful the first few times you inject.

Inject different spots each time.

Each time you give yourself a shot, try to inject a slightly different area. Usually, you'll be told to give these injections into your abdominal fat. That's a pretty big area. Try starting all of the way to the right, and then moving left an inch or so each time you inject. When you get all the way to the left, do your next injection starting on the right again.

Do something calming first.

Injecting yourself will be much easier if you are calm and collected when you do it. So, do something that you find relaxing and soothing in the hour or so before your shot. Watch a funny movie, read a good book, meditate, or do some yoga. If you're on a time crunch, even just pausing to take a few deep breaths can really help.

Ask someone to help, if needed.

If you are really nervous about injecting yourself, you may want to have your partner do it for you. A family member or close friend may also be comfortable giving you the shot. This way, you can simply look away. As time goes on, you might become more comfortable with the process and decide you feel more comfortable giving yourself the injections.

The process of giving yourself fertility injections is not always easy. However, with the tips above, you can do so successfully.
