Adult Acne: Blasting Zits Into Oblivion

My name is Jamie Turner and when I turned 22, I started to form a horrible case of acne. I used every cleanser and lotion I could find and I even asked my physician for a topical steroid cream to clear up the zits on my face. After six months of treatment, my physician completed a blood test that concluded that a hormone imbalance was causing my acne. I started on therapy to control the amount of estrogen my body produced. The therapy along with a good diet and exercise regimen helped to clear up my acne. I am sharing my story, because acne is not just a condition that affects teenagers. It can affect adults at any age, and it can cause a great deal of embarrassment. Don't let your acne go untreated. Read my blog instead and learn about both natural and medical treatments that can help you.

Have Droopy Skin On Your Face? 2 Treatments To Tighten Things Up

Health & Medical Blog

Over time the skin on your face will start to droop due to gravity. There is not much you can do to stop this from happening. There are treatments, however, that you can get that will tighten up the droopy areas. This not only helps you look better but you will also look much younger. Keep reading to learn about two of these treatments.

Use Radiofrequency

One treatment that you can have done by a dermatologist or cosmetic surgeon is known as radiofrequency. With this, a device is used over the sagging area. This causes collagen to grow which will then tighten up the area. If you do not have a lot of sagging skin, you may only need the treatment done one time but, in many cases, multiple treatments are suggested.

One benefit of radiofrequency is there is no pain and no downtime. You do not have to worry about recovering from the treatment. No anesthesia has to be used for this treatment. This means you could go on your lunch hour, and no one would know you had the treatment done.

Once you get this treatment you will not see results immediately as it takes time for collagen to grow and build up. You should see the results in a few months, however. Your dermatologist can give you more information on what you should expect.

Intense Pulsed Light

Another treatment option that can be done in a dermatologist's office is known as intense pulsed light. A device is used over the sagging area that causes fat cells to shrink. The pulsed lights go through one layer of your skin at a time depending on how long the doctor uses it.

You will generally need to have several treatments if you choose this option. With this, you also do not have to worry about recovery time, and you will not feel pain during the treatment. The only thing you will feel is a little warmth, but it is not hot enough to hurt.

This can also take time to see full results. It takes time for the fat to completely break down and dissolve. Once this happens, however, your droopy skin will be much tighter. You will likely need to have more than one treatment if you choose this.

Talk with your dermatologist to learn more about other cosmetic skin tightening treatments, as well as tips on what you can do at home to help with this problem.
