Adult Acne: Blasting Zits Into Oblivion

My name is Jamie Turner and when I turned 22, I started to form a horrible case of acne. I used every cleanser and lotion I could find and I even asked my physician for a topical steroid cream to clear up the zits on my face. After six months of treatment, my physician completed a blood test that concluded that a hormone imbalance was causing my acne. I started on therapy to control the amount of estrogen my body produced. The therapy along with a good diet and exercise regimen helped to clear up my acne. I am sharing my story, because acne is not just a condition that affects teenagers. It can affect adults at any age, and it can cause a great deal of embarrassment. Don't let your acne go untreated. Read my blog instead and learn about both natural and medical treatments that can help you.

Two Reasons Why The Withdrawal Method Isn't Effective

Children are rewarding, but they also require a significant time, energy and financial commitment. If you and your committed partner have decided not to use condoms and aren't fully on board with the idea of expanding your family just yet, make sure you aren't relying on the withdrawal method alone to prevent pregnancy.

Pre-Cum Isn't Harmless

Before a male reaches an orgasm and ejaculates, a fluid is secreted from the penis known as pre-cum. In years past, it was thought that this fluid was harmless and that it could not lead to pregnancy. However, more recent medical testing has shown that in some men, pre-cum secretions can also contain sperm.

Even if your partner is withdrawing before ejaculation, if the pre-cum has already entered inside the female cavity, this can still lead to pregnancy. Unfortunately, unless you have a high-powered microscope nearby, there is no way to look at your partner and tell whether or not this is the case with their secretions, so it's always better to be safe than to be sorry.

The Withdrawal Method Isn't Easy

For the male, being able to withdrawal at the right time isn't exactly simple. For starters, the male has to be very in tune with his body to not just know that ejaculation is near, but to know the exact moment to pull out before it actually occurs. There is no standard organism.

An orgasms can vary from encounter to encounter which would make this quite hard to achieve. When you consider the fact that somewhere between 40 and 600 million sperm are found in semen and the fact that it only takes contact with one of these sperm for a woman to get pregnant, it's best to not rely on this ineffective method.

Greater Protection

When it comes to family planning, greater protection comes in the form of medical intervention. Long gone are the days when birth control pills were the only choice. Medical advancements now allow you to choose from implants and IUDs. For long-term pregnancy prevention, there are also shots available. A physician will work with you to help you choose an option that will be best suited for your health and lifestyle needs.

Make sure you are expanding your family on your terms, not by accident so that you don't end up consulting a center like Abortion Care. Allow a physician to assist you and your partner with family planning.
